Dog Help Kharkiv is an animal rescue organisation based in Kharkiv, Ukraine, dedicated to saving and rehabilitating animals affected by the war. Operating in Kharkiv region, Dog Help Kharkiv specializes in evacuating dogs from high-risk areas, providing them with shelter, medical care, and ultimately finding them new homes. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the organisation has completed the end-to-end rescue process for many dogs — evacuating them, providing shelter and veterinary treatment, and facilitating their adoption into loving families. Its shelter in Kharkiv is focused on re-homing rapidly to allow for saving more lives.

I have been on countless evacuations with Svitlana and Pawel since we first met in early 2023. Their effectiveness is what sets them apart. Many organisations can rescue, but few have built a system that truly works from end to end. In co-operation with NOR DOG, they have optimised the entire pipeline, from a high-risk evacuation to a short-term shelter to final adoption. They don't just shelter; they give these animals closure and a new family. I've seen their process firsthand, and it's a model of efficiency and compassion.
